The Q20NDL is a compact photoelectric sensor that detects targets by evaluating light reflected back toward the sensor. Its diffuse arrangement does not require a separate reflector at the opposite side of the detection area. This makes the unit useful in applications where space or conveyor geometry limits installation options, subject to the reflectivity and position of the target.
Common industrial applications include detecting passing packages, verifying product presence at a workstation and triggering machinery when an item enters a sensing zone. A replacement photoeye can look almost identical to another Q20 family model but differ in NPN versus PNP wiring, cable versus quick-disconnect configuration or response behavior. Those distinctions matter when the sensor is connected to a PLC input or control relay.
